THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT CARPET MAINTAINANCE & CLEANING

CARPET CLEANING

Proper care of your carpet prevents damage, extends its life and keeps it looking great for years. How do you properly care for your carpets? Before we talk about caring for your carpets, lets understand the causes of dirty carpets.

Obviously, a no brainer is that the most trafficked area is where people are walking at the most. Sand , dirt, and oil are on the bottom of your shoes that grind away on the fibers of your carpets as you walk thru the house.

Whether you leave your shoes on inside your home or go barefoot. You carry oil on your bare feet that can dirty your carpet as well. To decrease the chance of dirtying your carpets, wear slippers (specifically for inside house) or socks.

To prolong the life of your carpet, vacuum your carpets regularly. But do not use liquid carpet shampoos, chances are when you vacuumed up the shampoo when it drys. The shampoo acts like a dirt magnet, leaving your shoes nice and clean. Use dry carpet cleaners instead, you can find them at your local stores that sells vacuum cleaners.

If you really want to clean like us carpet pros, then rent a shampoo machine that cleans with water. Mix 1 cup vinegar per 2 ½ gallons of water and clean. Go back over the carpet with warm water only. The vinegar pulls out the old shampoo, cleaning the carpet as well. You may have to do this once or twice, but your carpets will be soft and free from grime. The hot water activates the shampoo thats in the carpet, providing the needed cleansing action.

If you have the time, then its the perfect time for a spring clean. But if you’re not quite the “jack of all trades” or just don’t have the time, then check out some local carpet cleaning services in your area. But, if you’re from the western side of WA state, check out carpet cleaning services. The pros there can help you.
